My girlfriend's 2003 Kia Rio would not start. I suggested that she shake the clutch around a bit, and/or slam the clutch down. She did so, then it stalls. If possible, when answering the question, please give a 1-10 likely-hood for each answer. Thank you.

When this happened, was the starter engaging?

No, the starter was not engaging. No clicks, no ticks, no sounds at all. It acted as it would if the clutch was not pressed at all. Lights and radio at full power

There is a safety switch on the clutch pedal. That would be my guess.

Ok. Sorry. It was my fault I missed the answer. Do you have any way of know the specific name of
The switch, and from where it can be accessed?

It is referred to as a clutch safety switch. To access it, you need to get under the dash at the top of the clutch pedal.

Without the physical vehicle, it is not easy to detect what could be wrong and when we provide a suggestion, you should come back when it fails to work so that we can try with others. When we ask for more details, it is because we need to understand the situation and condition.

This is a forum type question/answer site and we are not online chat therefore replies might take some time as the person attending to you might not be around. It also takes some time for email notifications and I do not know about others, but email system is set to receive mails only every 30 minutes.

Thank you.
