sounds like a valave body issue or accumulator proble. take it to A trans shop and let them drive it and give you a bid. it does not sound serious but you wont know till someone feels it and checks it out.

What ended up being the solution to your trans downshift problem, I have the exact same problem now with my 2003 wrangler.
I'm hoping its a switch or solenoid pack

Same hear, 2003 Jeep Wrangler auto. Transmission doesn’t want to shift into 4th gear unless you feather the accelerator.

Good afternoon,

Did you start by changing the fluid and filter? That is where I would start.

Are there any codes set in the system?

No codes and yes I just changed the filter and fluid about 400 miles ago . If you turn off overdrive it won’t do it but at 60 MPH. It’s tackling about 2,300 RPMs.

Okay, I would change the fluid and filter again. Make sure there is no metal at the magnet in the pan or in the fluid.

Add some valve body modifier into the fluid when you add the new fluid. Then see if it helps. If it does not then it sounds like a valve body issue with one of the valves sticking.
