See attached pic for location.

To remove, locate the sensor on the engine. Remove the retaining bolt and slide the sensor from the engine. Disconnect the wiring and reverse the order to install.

I hate to say it, but I don't remember the exact size bolt. And yes, that should be it. However, I have to say there may be one issue. On SOME of these vehicles, the wiring for the sensor is behind the timing belt which makes it more difficult to access. It these cases, the belt may need removed to route the wiring properly and prevent damage to the wiring from the belt. If you determine your's is like that, I have to ask how much experience you have working on vehicles because removing the belt and replacing it requires a lot.

I was afraid you would say that. In that case, the timing belt, tensioner pulley, and idler pulley need removed to safely route the wiring harness in order to prevent damage by the belt and pulleys. It's not an easy or fast job.

In estimate, I would think the average shop would charge you for around 3 hours labor.

Code 1154 is not a crank sensor fault. It is a lazy o2 sensor bank I that will require replacement.

I don't have a diagram however I can tell you that you will have to remove the belts, crankshaft pulley ,
timing belt cover, timing belt, power steering pump,
motor mount, and engine mount brackets etc.
The sensor is located on the front side of the crank shaft and is held in by 2 bolts with 10 mm heads.
The sensor is easy to change however you must pay close attention to the routing of the wire so you don't pinch it with the power steering pump bracket upon reinstallation.
The whole job including replacing the timing and balance shaft belts should take you about 4-5 hours.
Hope this helps!

I have a 2000 Hyundai Sonta, 2.4 L, 4 cyl. Lately when I drive, the engine will shut off and turn back on (rpms drop to zero and then kick back on) or will shut off and stall (may restart right away, may not). Had O'Reilly's and AutoZone run diagnostics and get 355 CrankShaft Sensor Postion A. Had this same problem when I first bought the car and they replaced the Crankshaft postion sensor under warranty.

Assuming I need to replace my crankshaft postion sesnor again.

Bought the part, and can find the terminal end on my engine, but cannot find the other end. Anyone know an easy way to find it. Have tried tracing the wire, but run into a dead end, have taken tons of parts off to continue to find it, but still stuck.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

It doesn't look like you need to remove the starter to get to the sensor. Here is a guide to show you what you are in for when changing the sensor, less the starter and a diagram or what it is on your car (below)

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/crankshaft-angle-sensor-replacement

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Cheers, Ken
