How do you replace the Exhaust Flex pipe with the HO2S Heated Oxygen Sensor being so close ?

The oxygen sensor sets approximately two inches to the aft of the Flex Pipe. There is no room to put a muffler clamp on the back and there probably isn't room to weld it. If I do weld it does the sensor need to be removed first to keep from damaging it when it is welded?

The flexpipe is flanged at both ends. That's how it is replaced. It should never be replaced with a solid pipe.
