just had the fuel pump replaced by a mechanic we trust. Unfortunately we are no where near the mechanic for the holiday. the problem is that everytime the ignition is turned off, it seems to flood the car so that any start shortly after the ignition is turned off is next to impossible. Any ideas??

Check the fuel injectors. If it is flooding the ylinders, there is a possibility the injectors are stuck open.
