let them check it out and tell you. if the red oil light came on, the pressure is too low. there could be internal issues.

I believe the engine is seized. Most likely the oil strainer is clogged and the oil pump cannot draw oil into the circuit. This results in drop in oil pressure and the lack of lubrications has the bearings seized.

Such problems usually occurs when the engine is heavily sludged and engine has been left idle for extended periods of time.

Make sure they give you a warranty for the job done and if you have abnormal noises from engine, don't accept it back. Get them to resolve it first.

I did not get a warranty with car but they said they would sort it so can I still get warranty for work done I paid £2200 for car & it had service history upto 2010 2 owner 61000 on clock oil had just been changed as well

Since you were not able to get the vehicle home, they must sort the thing out for you. However you need to get this thing straightened with the sales outlet.

If they are going to charge you for the job, they definitely need to provide you with a warranty. If the outlet is going to resolve the problem, get them committed.

I am not sure of sales and purchase agreement laws/conditions over at your location but it is good to be prepared. Ask around for more details and equip yourself so that if the need arises, you are prepared to have a go at them.
