The A/C had been working fine and a couple of days ago, when the temperature outside was 105, she started the car, and the A/C was blowing warm air. I found the procedure for running the diagnostic and it didn't show any error messages. When the A/C is turned on, the compressor turns as it should. I tried adding refrigerant, but it didn't help, and the system didn't really seem to need any. One other clue I have is that when the car was turned off, as the engine stopped running, I heard a quick sucking sound like a vacuum leak. About a week ago, also in extreme heat, when I tried to start the car, it turned over louder than usual but didn't start. This happened about four times then on the next attempt it started right up like it always does. I know the starting problem can be related to a vacuum leak so could it also cause the A/C issue?

Hi,

If the A/C compressor is turning on, then chances are the problem is in the vehicle. There is a blend air door actuator (air mix) that is responsible for the air temp entering the vehicle. That is what I would recommend checking first.

Try this: I attached two pics below. The first shows the actuator under the dash, driver's side. Pic 2 are the directions for replacement. Before replacing, remove the actuator from the HVAC box and see if it responds when you change the temperature in the vehicle from hot to cold and back.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
