2003 GMC Sierra steering wheel

When driving at speed I feel a slight tapping in thr steering wheel when I turn the steering wheel but when I turn it goes away. What could cause this im going to check the wheel hub for anything loose.

there is a tsb on steering wheel column bearing and sensor replacement. this should be done by a qualified mechanic as there are 5-6 different types it may be the problem so check wheel bearings as well
