my service 4 wheel drive light came on and i don't have4 wheel drive i replacedthe drive mtor and the modules lastyear and had it reprogrammed but it has the same symptoms as before. i check the fuse and relaced the switch again bt no change is there a way to reset the 4 wheel drive without taking it to a dealer again

You need to have the computer scanned to see what is causing the light to come on. Try a nationally recognized parts store to have it scanned. Most will do it for free.

because a local parts store scanner wont work on the 4 wd system. you need a repair shop or dealer with a more advanced scanner. i already called them and that was their exact words.

Yes, that is correct. With all the different systems on vehicles these days a scanner or code reader has to have numerous system capabilities to provide diagnostic checks for multiple systems. Auto parts stores like AutoZone or Pep Boys may be able to provide you with a basic 'check engine light' codes but the rest are specialty.
