Can't unlock door

I removed the battery and closed the hood of the truck, not realizing the door was locked. When I returned with a new battery I went to open the door manually with the key but it did not work. The key lock rotates but does not engage anything to release the lock. I am guessing it has something to do with the battery being disconnected however I cannot reconnect it if I cannot get in the truck to open the hood.

it must be a fluke because you may have a broken rod clip and won't unlock it. if you have a lock on pass door try that one or one in back to get into truck.

What the arrow in pic is pointing to is the clip that can break and it can be on either end. the pic shows back of door lock.
