2003 Ford Edge abs

The ABS shouldn't affect the brakes performance. Do you feel the ABS is engaging? Can you describe what happens?

Yes i'm sure the abs is engaging.Instead of keeping me from skidding it causes the brakes to make a grinding noise,a noise similar to how my semi-truck sounds when it needs brake pads.
And it causes me to have almost no brakes at all.The pedal kicks-back or pulsates like it should .But having very close to zero brakes is not right.

No I have not checked the ECM for codes.

The sound you described sounds like the ABS actuating. Either you have a bad sensor, a wiring issue, corrosion at the connection to the sensor, or there is a build up of dirt and the sensor can't do it's job. Check for codes so we can narrow it down to at least which wheel is causing the problem. If you continue to drive the vehicle, make sure not to tail gate and allow extra time to stop. It could be dangerous.

I checked for codes, there was no codes.The only time the light comes on is when you turn the key to on all the lights momentarily display as they should,The light doesn't comeon even when it acts up which is when the ABS activates,

Since there are no codes, a real time scanner is needed to see which sensor is causing the problem. You have a sensor that is bad, but since it still is sending a signal (even though it is the wrong signal) the computer thinks everything is okay.
