My 2003 dodge intrepid is not showing hot on the guage but the engine is getting overheated and there is coolant leaking underneath behind the alternator.

So is it actually overheating or just leaking coolant?

That is a good question. The guage says it is ok but the engine is definitely hot but could be just the coolant is leaking.

I realize this does not help but I am not sure if one issue is causing the other. I cannot see the weep hole as to whether or not the water pump is bad however the coolant seems to circulate when being added to the reservoir. I am in a quandary.

So do you know where the coolant leak is coming from?

Originally it came from the reservoir which I replaced. Now it is coming from the the drivers side near the alternator.

Until this morning, I did not see the coolant leaking. I guess I am going to have to refill it and look.

See if you can rent a coolant pressure tester that will work on your car from auto zone?
