2003 Chevrolet Suburban p1516 help

Hi, My truck is a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 5.3L v8. My problem is every morning when the engine is cold I get a "reduce engine power". Pulled out the code and got 1 code which is p1516. What I did is cleaned the TB, cleaned the MAF, changed the TB connector and passenger side engine ground wire and still does it every morning or when the engine is cold. When cold though when i first start it and revved the engine a couple of times no "reduce engine power" but when i let it idle during a cold engine without revving it i get the "REP" and code p1516. One morning I tried disconnecting the plug to the MAF and w/o revving everything ran fine, No "R.E.D". Tried it a couple of times and no R.E.D. though the code for faulty maf pops up but no R.E.D. What gives? When engine is warm everything is normal.

Not sure if this will solve your issue or not, but on the passenger side, where the back of the head meets the intake valley is a ground wire. Find that wire and it give it a soft tug and see if it comes undone. That eyelet likes to break and will cause all sorts of issues. also it may be your throttle pedal causing this.

Hi, thanks for the reply.Ground wire in the engine block looks fine and I uninstalled and cleaned it with contact cleaner, same as with the pedal harness and ETB harness, checked for loose and connection breakage too and all looks ok,but my problem remains that I get the R.E.D. every morning only with po1516 code. As always problem is only when engine is cold.But if you rev the engine a couple of times after you start it in the morning R.E.D. will not show up, and will be fine, but if you start it cold and not rev a bit it will throw out po1516 with R.E.D. Any idea what could cause this and why only when engine is cold?

the only thing I can suggest is to maybe replace maf and then have the throttle position actuator . I am at a loss myself on this one. maybe the maf voltge is a bit low causing it. Or it may be a vacuum leak as well . Because this does this cold only when you go into a warm engine it goes to closed loop and if there is a small vacuum or air leak between lmaf and throttle the computer adjust for that.

I'm sorry not R.E.D. but R.E.P. (reduce Engine Power.) Anyway, I've replace the MAF already. Still have the po1516 and R.E.P. Still every morning when cold. Does not matter if the MAF is connected or not. i'm at a lost too..
