the problem is we got the motor in , ever thing is hooked up that we know of, when we went to start it, we did prime it before starting too, but gas went all over the ground.

is your return line to tank hooked up or line broken that is about all that makes them leak like that. If it won't start after leak is fixed try resetting security system.
