Hey guys,
I have an 03 2500HD.Not sure what the problem is, but my truck goes nowhere when I "put the pedal to the metal". I have to let off the gas when driving for it to shift into the next gear. For what it's worth, the problem started after excessive revving at a truck show. There's also a loud clank when switching from neutral to drive. All I can get out of mechanics without paying them is "It's not a minor problem." They also suggested I not drive it, but I drove it with no noticeably added problems for months. It's been sitting in the driveway lately due to a lack of needing it. People say I may need a new transmission/rebuild mine but something is telling me it's something smaller.

Without diagnosing the problem, it is not possible to comment on what could be wrong.
Start by getting a scan done to check for trouble codes.
Check the transmission fluid level and condition.

The clanking when engaging could be due to a fault with the transmission, drive axles or engine mounts.
