Transmission slipping

Did you remove the valve body?

It should move from this repair.

Did you change the oil/filter in the transmission?

The side filter fell off the first time I went to remove the side case, so I put it back on and reinstalled everything and that is when the car would not move anymore. The axle was removed also. The first time, then the second time the axle was left in and no I did not remove the valve body.

Side filter? Please explain.

How much fluid did you add after the repair?

The first time I pulled it apart I put four quarts and it did not move, so I add some more which equaled up to nine quarts. Then I pulled everything down because it looked like it was not pumping from the side case to the valve body. So I took the side case off again and redid everything, then put four quarts in and did the same thing no movement. But, with the wheels off the ground and in reverse the wheels spin forward, but as soon as I put it on the ground there is no movement. There is a side filter on the 4t80e transmission that is rectangular

Okay, it sounds like the front pump is not working which is under the valve body.

Crack a cooler line loose and see if there is any pressure when running.

I would still drop the pan and check the filter in the lower pan.

If the filter at the bottom fall down a tab bit will it cause it to not move?

Okay, so when I got off from work yesterday I went to my job and put my car on the lift and dropped the transmission pan to find the filter on the left side sitting at the bottom of the pan. So I switched them out with new ones and notice that the left one kept falling out like it was not holding, so I wrapped it up with a very thin wire on two points to keep it in place and reinstalled everything. The car will not move in any gear, the wheels would turn about a inch or less in rotation and the fluid is still sitting in the side case like it is not pumping. I am stumped.

The fluid in the side case will not be pumped. There is no pressure there at all.

As far as the filter, you are still sucking air. Drop the pan again. Make sure you have removed the old seal from the case before installing a new seal and filter. Holding it wire is no good.

When you drop the pan, can you post some pictures of what you see?

One of the new seal was so loose that the filter would not stay in. I will get pictures once I get off and down to my car to take the pan off again. I really appreciate your help.
