Hey DEVINSTAR,

I would start by checking the fuse and then check the ground for the unit, those radios are famous of going out and needing to be replaced.

Here is a guide and a wiring diagram so you can do some testing to figure out what the problem is.

Please run some tests and get back to us so we can continue helping you.

Is the onstar LED on at all(green/red)? Does the radio display station info and such, just no audio? What I would do first off, is take both battery cables loose, and touch them together for about 30 seconds. Reconnect them and see if the concern is not resolved. If it is resolved, you had a logic lock condition, not necessarily indicative of a component fault.

There is also a memory power wire for the clock and station presets. It is common for that circuit to short internally and power the radio and power antenna. Sorry to say, GM and Ford are the only companies that refuse to sell me service manuals and parts so you are stuck sending it to one of their two very high-priced repair centers. Be thankful you don't have a 2002 or newer car. Those have the body computer built in so you MUST get the radio fixed. Without it installed, you won't have cruise control or power windows. Got'cha!

We do not have interchangeability charts, call GM and ask if parts numbers are same.

A junk yard can also help.

The only quick diagnosis I can offer you, will isolate if it is a speaker. Swap the left door speaker with the right. If the left one still acts up, it is the tuner or amplifier. To determine which is possible, you need to know which sound system you have. If it is a base deville, the speakers are probably driven by the radio.
