BMW 525i 2003; gives off white smoke only when it's been sitting awhile, and only when I first start it, idles rough but runs good on highway

White smoke! Is the engine putting out white smoke when it is cold and been sitting awhile? The experience you are having is quite normal, although I think you might want to inspect and/or replace the spark plugs. At 100k they should have been replaced, along with the pre-cat oxygen sensors.
