what can the problem be?

my bmw 330ci hesitates when i accellerate in 1st gear when cold, also when i pull away when cold and run along on idle going slow in 1st gear the car wallows. what could this be?

Is the MalfunctionIndicator Light indicating?

Symptoms indicates a possible fault with the ignition system components or cold start.

It is quite possibly the VANOS unit.

Thanks for the help, no the malfunction light is not on. Some one said it could be vanos, but i was thinking on the lines of what you said, may be cold start. Look forward to your reply, sorry i took so long to get back to you. Thanks again.. Victor.
