I would say that you have a defective fuel pump, you better be checking the fuel pressure next.

Thank you mhpautos, i had a mechanic look at it and was told it could be the fuel filter he put a new one on but it is still the same. The AA pluged there computer in it but didnt show up any faults.I took it for a diagnostic test and was told that the fuel pressure sensor was showing up faulty but he was not sure if that was my problem.It happens when its over 2000 revs but does not cut out.Could you please tell me what you think.Thank you

From my understanding of Audi, (i am no an Audi tech) the pressure sensor is just that a sensor that monitors fuel pressure, i would like to see what the actual pressure readings are as i do feel that you may have a defective pump or possibly a faulty pressure regulator.

A fuel pressure reading and a flow test will show up any faults, a good mechanic can do a static pressure test to check the regulator operation, these really should be done, just trying parts with out a full diagnosis is just a waste of time and money.

mhpautos Forgot to mention that a steady stream of white smoke blows from the cars exhaust pipe is that information any use for you.Thanks for all your help.

hmmm, this is important, this can be a sign of a head problem, white smoke is a sign of coolant in the combustion chamber, your mechanic can't be very good if he has not picked up on this, you will have to get a head check done, thi sis a simple chemical test for Co in the cooling system, if so you will have a head problem.
