Volvo Key Stuck

You should look for a problem with the gear selector button. Once in park, the button should pop out. When it starts to fail, the button stays pressed in and that will not let the key turn all the way to position "0". Next time you have that problem check the button on the gear selector. If it is stuck, pry it back out and that should let you remove the key. Let me know what happens.

To be working normal. Unless it is something inside the button, that I cannot see.
It seems that the next step would be to disassemble the shifter, but what am I to
Look for?

The next thing to check would be the gear selector cable. Remove the side cover for the center console on the drivers side. You will get a better view of the cable. The shift cable attaches to the key housing so when you turn the key on, it unlocks the gear selector. Turn key on and off to see how it moves so you get a better idea on how it works. Spray some WD40 and clean up any sticky fluid spillage on there. If after that you still have a problem, you will need to replace the steering column lock. The tumbler comes with it. It usually takes about a week to get when you order from the dealer. The only problem with this repair is that it involves drilling out the sheered off screws that are locked tight in the housing. If you are not comfortable with doing this repair, you should find a shop that will do it for you. Good luck and keep me posted.
