What I do to quickly check a coil while it is running I lift it out no more then half way to listen for the pop. If there is no pop swap it out with another coil. If there is a pop you now know the coil is bad. You can also just clear the light and move the suspected bad coil to another cylinder location and see if the misfire follows it. Hop this helps.
