After getting a very high estimate on the labor to install a fuel pump in a 2002 VW beetle. And after doing mechanic work for 25 years I don't see much labor time involved. Approx how long does it take to change the pump in this car?

The manual allows 1.6 hours to do the repair.

Sorry, I didn't realize it was a diesel. To remove and replace the fuel injector pump calls for 3.4 hours and includes bleeding the system and checking and adjusting injection timing. The fuel pump calls for 1.6 hours.

There is no "fuel pump"... just the Injection Pump.

- Timing belt needs to be removed

That's why it takes longer, I'm surprised how little info Mitchell offers.

It can be confusing at times. They have so many different listings. Regardless, I hope that helped.
