My 2002 Subaru Outback, 124,000 miles, has had a lot of costly repairs. In the last 2.5 years I've replaced the head gaskets, timing belt, valve job, tie rods and boots, and rear break job. Will the head gaskets go again? Can I run it, once it is smogged, if the cats go out?Do you think I'm safe for about 2 more years from big money repairs or is it time to sell and buy a new or newer Outback?

There is no reason why this car should not be fine for that time frame, as long as you do the services and watch out for any small problem that may occur, fixing small problems early often averts major expense later, if the cats fail. which is fairly unlikely under normal conditions, you will in all probability contravene local pollution laws.
