cutting fuel

my subaru legacy bh5 keeps cutting off fuel and makes a sound like back fire. when i add speed it reduces speed completly and goes off.at times it picks speed and then starts jucking

Is your check engine light on? If so, begin with scanning your computer for codes. This'll point you in the right direction. And if you need further assistance, I'll be glad to help.

If there's no code, first check all vacuum lines for leaks, then check the fuel pump pressure and for a clogged fuel filter.

If that's o.k., then you want to check the ignition system beginning at the plugs, wires, coils.

If that's O.K., move to the sensors and finally the exhaust for a restriction.
