rear climate control

Are you saying that you have a problem with only the rear and the front is working fine?

correct, front climate works fine. still blows nice cold air. everything else in the car is working fine. I replaced the fan clutch and water pump. After disconnecting the battery to clear out the "service engine soon" light, i noticed the rear climate control won't power on now. i have attempted to reset it 3 times now, i checked any fuse associated with HVAC and climate control and all checked ok. I actually put new ones in but it didn't solve the problem. the rear unit is getting power because the letters in the buttons on the unit light up. however when you press the power button, nothing comes on. is there another button in front that allows the rear controls to work? i only messed with 2 wires during the repair. the negative battery and the wiring for the fan clutch so this has me very confused.

I'm not sure what you are trying to power on there. the only thing that powers for the rear is the blower motor and the blend door actuator. If the blower motor is not coming on, start with checking the motor itself.

I don't think that is it. The unit itself is just dead. If the blower motor was bad, the radio function on the unit should still work. Neither the radio function or the ac function on this unit will power on. I just don't see how replacing a fan clutch and water pump would kill this thing. so, my only deduction is that when i removed the negative on the battery to clear out the code and reset everything, something got messed up that it won't allow that unit to turn on. Is there some type of reset procedure or did the programming get messed up? Or would it benefit me to take out the unit itself and reset it that way. Is there a way to test the unit to see if it is dead or is that something a dealer must do?

It does have a processor. It's located in the back with the unit but you'r going to need a factory scan tool to diagnose it.

any way to reset it without a factory scan tool? just unplug it for 5 minutes perhaps?

Disconnecting the battery resets them.
