2002 Nissan Maxima mileage: 75,000. When I turn my car off lately it ticks, what is that about? Sorry I don't know what category to look under. I live in subtropics if the heat makes a difference.

From the noise you describe that what you are hearing is the exhaust pipe contracting as it cools down.
