I would like to have an idea about what possible problems I might be up against before I take my car into a repair shop. I have some front end problems. I hear a loud "whirring" noise when I make turns and it sounds/feels like (i feel it in the steering column) something is grinding. It's becoming progressively worse. It used to only make that noise when I made left turns, but now it does it almost all the time. I have checked and filled the power steering fluid and it still makes the noise.

it may be a wheel bearing gone bad or the rack and pinion you wont 'know until it's checked out.
