I have a 2002 kia sportage, It is leaking gear oil, What could this mean? And how can i fix it?

When i got into my car to drive, I noticed spots on the ground where the car was. I smelled to see what it was and it smells like gear oil. What can this be?

could be the trans or the differential. where was the leak?? middle of the car or the rear of the car.

The leak was in the middle.

could be the trans or transfer case if you have 4 wheel drive.

from here, no clue but te output shaft seals are common. get a shop to verify for you and give you a bid.
