why when you give it gas it does not accelerate in the moment

when you press the gas pedal the car does not accelerate immediately is like a couple of second behind what could it be?? by the way the car is standard and sometimes when i put first the car shuts off like if i did not give it gas or something is wrong with the clutch?? i dont think so but let me know anything please and thank you

I took it to a garage and they told that somebody put gas without turning off the engine

That's a fire hazard and a federal offense, but wouldn't explain your problem. You need to have someone scan it for both soft and hard fault codes.

A friend of mine told me that maybe the car is out of time, could the timing belt do that??

Yes. It could. But so could a vacuum leak, low fuel pressure, clogged fuel filter, and fouled spark plugs.

I've been thinking about that. I know it's a felony in California and every other state I've been in, but, after thinking about it for awhile, I'm not sure about the federal statute. I know it's more dangerous than fueling while on the cell phone.
