A friend of mine was trying to replace my power steering belt when we realized it had been shredded by a misaligned AC pulley. (The belt is designed to go around the AC.)
My question is this, is it possible to bypass the AC altogether? At the auto parts store, they'd asked me whether my car had AC or not, which leads me to believe that there's a shorter belt that would fit. Would it function alright? Would that do any damage? I'm not looking to fix my AC, the car's been fine without it for a year or more.

belts like this are hunt and peck at auto parts. the one without ac has a different routing .so it's more like finding one that fits. also replace the tensioner as well. however we only show one routing for that belt and it's for ac.
