Why is the gas station pump stopping as if my car gas tank is fulll when I am pumpimg gas?

When I pump gas into my car gas tank, it keep cutting off the gas pump, even though the gas tank is not full. It is a long process of manually pumping gas as the pump keep cutting off between gas flow.

the vent valve may be stuck closed not allowing the vapors to escape. have a shop check it for you to confirm and give you a bid.
