how do i remove front CV axle

Diagrams shows some of the things you need to remove. The lower ball joints would have to be removed. It is not necessary to remove the complete knuckle as you can flip the knuckle outwards to separate it from the axle shaft.

I just replaced the cv axle on our 2004 Honda CRV. There was a clicking noise during right hand turns, so I replaced the right side CV axle. Now there is a modest vibration in the front end, but only at around twenty miles an hour. It goes away as speed increases. I noticed that the new axle came with a rubber disk in the middle of the shaft. Maybe this is for balancing, but could it also be throwing the axle out of balance? Is there an adjustment I can make, or a way I can tell if the new axle is bad? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Axles can cause vibrations. I would ensure everything is good and tight and in it's proper position. Check your balljoint, axle nut, etc.

If that is fine, the axle is most likely defective.

The Firestone Auto Care suggested I replace the right front half shaft. My old Firestone Auto Care store had replaced my left front half shaft some years ago. I have driven this vehicle on a mail route for it's first 100000 miles. I don't trust this new Firestone store person and need your advice.

If during tight turns with slight acceleration youhear a crocking noise, it most probably is due to a bad CV joint.

Turn the wheel fully to right and visually inspect th CV joint rubber boot. If it is torn and the greas is spilled all over, the joint is bad.
