2002 Honda CRV Loud hum

Is the fluid full? Was the system properly bled? Was the proper fluid used? Before the repairs, was the pump run empty for any amount of time?

Thanks for your prompt reply. The fluid is full, however, the system was not properly bled. The same fluid was used. We just added fluid to make it full. The pump was never empty when ran.

Since you only replaced the hoses, the pump shouldn't have been affected. However, since the hoses were off, the pump should have gone dry. Regardless, try this. Safely lift and secure the vehicle so that both front tires are off the ground. Make sure the pump is full. With the engine off, turn the steering fully from left to right several time until the fluid shows no more bubbles in it and the level doesn't change.

Try that and let me know if makes a difference.

Thanks for your reply. I will do as you say but can I also steer the wheel from left to right without lifting the front tires? Should I also leave the cap open when doing the steering to eliminate the bubbles? Incidentally, I checked the fluid level this afternoon and it was half empty. I added the fluid up to the upper level line just this afternoon.

Lifting it makes it much easier to turn. As far as the cap, you could remove it but it isn't necessary.

The idea that it was half empty again concerns me. It may just need bled. However, there could be other leaks. Since the noise wasn't there before you did the work, I feel that bleeding the system should help.
