oil pan replacement

Hello,

Here are the oil pan removal instructions with diagrams below.

Oil Pan Removal

If the engine is out of the vehicle, go to step 6.

Raise the vehicle on the hoist to full height.
Drain the engine oil.

D17A2 engine: Disconnect the primary heated oxygen sensor (primary HO2S) connector and secondary heated oxygen sensor (secondary HO2S) connector, then remove the exhaust pipe A/ three way catalytic converter (TWC).

D17A6 engine: Disconnect the third heated oxygen sensor (third HO2S) connector, remove the exhaust pipe A/TWC assembly.

D17A1 engine: Remove the exhaust pipe/muffler assembly.
Remove the bolts/nuts securing the oil pan.
Remove the oil pan.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Thanks for the quick response. I read that you have to put Hondabond/ Permatex in certain spots on the pan and block. Is this correct? Or do I put it up dry? will be working on a lift not the ground. Thanks Neil

honda bond is the gasket. get it with the oil pan.

My car is not an EX with an aluminum pan witch takes no gasket. It is an LX with a steel pan, it has a gasket. In the manual it shows points where the hondabond is used. My question was do I use the hondabond or put it up dry. Seen various articles so I just want to be sure witch is correct. Please check Roy. Neil

Don't let it sit for more than 5 minutes before installing the pan

Oil Pan Gasket Honda Part Number: 11251-P2A-014 is used on 2001-2005 Civic all trim except EX. EX has an alluminum pan using Honda bond. Believe me or not.

I'm not a mechanic and want to replace the oil pan on my Honda Civic EX 2-door, Automatic. Is this difficult? Can you describe the procedure and any special tools I need? Thanks, Heinz 682-622-6655

only difficult you may have the exhaust system
make sure you use WD40
that’s the front pipe once that out your good to go

well i changed my motor oil today and the single over sized drain plug stripped.i have an aluminum oil pan on the car just wondering if i can put a steel one.the aluminum is like $240 from honda and aftermarket steel one is like $63.

try an oversize repair drain plug
