2002 Honda Accord No Cruise Control

The cruise control does not work on this 02 Accord that I bought. I first checked the connection to the throttle body, the cable connection. It looks correct. The switch on the dash lights up when you press the button. Stuck at this point, I took it to the dealership for diagnosis. They claimed they got it working for a while, but gave up as I was charged a flat $49.95 fee and they hadn't fixed it after 2 hours. They stated the brake switch was adjusted correctly and working. They further suggested the switch on the steering wheel might be bad. I bought a guaranteed used on eBay and replaced it. Still no cruise. All that is left I think is the servo module controlling the vacuum and the cruise computer module? I see both for sale on eBay.

Which should I replace first? Any troubleshooting I could do? I can't find where/how to replace the cruise control module. Where is that located?

check switches with an ohm meter you should get a reading. or put power to them with harness disconnected. see pics for location and diagnosis. how ever it cold be a bad clock ring in steering column as switches go through that.

Thanks. That was helpful what you posted. I found the control module under the dash. I've also worked my way through the switches. This car is an automatic, so I have the AT range switch. Where is that?

Assuming all the switches are good, then I will replace the module. Guaranteed used units are available for $14 on eBay. You mention the clock ring on the steering column, and I note that the servo actuator in the engine compartment is not on the list. Is that because this servo never goes bad?

no the servo goes bad but if there is no power going through the switches to the module it may be the clock ring also if you replace the module it may not work unless it is programmed to your car.it's kind of if everything else works ok then it's the servo under hood. that is why it's a lot easier to use a scanner that a pro has as he can tell a lot faster what is wrong.

I understand your comment about the pro with the scanner. But, wouldn't you think the stealership would have one? I paid to have this diagnosed by a "professional" already. No luck, "come back for further diagnosis." No thanks. That is why I am asking here.

What about the AT shift lockout switch? That is the last one before the module. And, I bought the exact module that that was in my Honda, 2002, 3L already.

the shift interlock switch are interchangeable. you may get away by just swapping module If you choose to do that but if you do and it doesn't work then you need a scanner and yes dealers have them just more expensive and a lot of times won't work on peoples cars with their own parts.
