Our Honda is burning through oil like crazy, less than 1000 miles. We never had this problem before. The Honda has a v-tech engine with 128,000 miles. I believe it is a 4 cylinder.

Do you have a lot of smoke through exhaust a few minutes after starting from cold?
Are there any major leaks from engine?

No leaks, but I think there might be white smoke but not for long. My son said it has been 500 miles since he added oil which was about 3 quarts. We added 3 more quarts today to see how long he goes through that. We were told to add "Restore" and oil additive to see if it slows down the oil burning. He also had put the "20" oil. He was using a"50" before. I hope you know what I mean by that, cuz I sure don't. Only doing what I am told. We were told to monitor the oil burning weekly or put a new engine in, which I don't want to do.

Honda engine are rather lasting and burning oil usually are resolved by replacing the valve seals which can be done without removing the engine or cylinder heads.

It seldom is cause by piston rings. With the mileage on the vehicle, it is still too new to consider an engine replacement.
