Hello I have a 2002 gmc Sonoma with the 2.2l 4 cylinder. I believe I have a grounding issue but not so sure. Today I had a hot wire from the battery short out on the computer (which is right next to it). Afterwards the truck would turn over but not crank. No dash lights or anything. I figured it fried the computer so I replaced it with a used one I had. Now the truck will run, but if and ONLY if I have my scan tool plugged into it. I also had to do a security reset. And the low gas light stays on until I start driving down the road but as soon as I put it in park it come backs on with needle below empty. Please help me figure out what is up with it! Thanks in advance!!

It's not the computer. I put my computer back in it and it still will only run with scan tool connected. So the ground for it goes from the negative battery terminal to right rear of engine?

you asked for ground for computer and that is where it goes for battery cable you should be able to follow that down to it's connection. I still think a pro should look at this as we can be no further help. if this was a donation question then get back to me an dwe'll get your money back.
