Cylinder Misfire

1) I have a 2002 Ford Windstar 3.8L - 6Cyl, Transaxle 4-Automatic(4F50N), FWD. I took it to get it coded because of the Check Engine Light and it coded the following: 1. Cylinder 5 Misfire 2. That it's running too lean. What would cause these problems and what does it take to repair them both?
2) Also my AC has stopped blowing through the front vents and I was told that the Vac. Check Valve was the problem, I ordered the parted researched it's location online, manuals don't tell or show you where and installed it. When I started the van the air immediately started blowing through the vents BUT after about 30 minutes of driving it now blows from the front vents, then stops and blows on the floor and then stops and then blows through the defrost and then back through the vents again, what is my problem and how do I finally resolve this issue?

You seem to have aproblem with the vacuum controls and it could be a leaking acuum line that is causing the vents to keep changing.

Vacuum leaks can also cause the misfire and lean running conditions if the vacuum line is attached to the cylinder 5 intake manifold.

I would suggest checking the vacuum lines and rectifying it first.
Since the Check valve was diagnosed, have it replaced first. I could not find your reference to the check valve, can you explin in detail what that component is?

The (check valve) you're referring to; I was told it was called a (Vacuum Check Valve) the part # is FOZZ*19A563*A, the Description just says Valve. I had to remove both wiper arms, the outside plastic covering and then take off about 8 to 10 screws it was located under that with a red line, black line and a 45 degree plastic coupler. When I attached that and fired the van up and cut the AC on the air started blowing out of the vents like it was suppose to.....but stopped after about 30 to 40 minutes of driving.

The picture shows the A/C vacuum hose which is attached to the Vacuum Reservoir tank. I believe you are referring to the reservoir tank. If it is leaking, the vents would not work accurately.

The arrow on the 1st image isn't pointing directly to the component that I replaced, however below is the exact piece that I replaced that is attached in the location that the arrow is pointing in. So the reservoir tank could be leaking? I'm glad you know what you're talking about because I certainly don't but you're making sense to me though.

That is the check valve or a one-way valve. Is the problem rectified after replacemnt of this part?
