2002 Ford Taurus Car grinding noise

My 02 ford taurus makes a grinding sound when cruising. It sounds like it is located around the front left wheel.

It makes the sound when cruising after 1 or 2 minutes of driving, when I am not accelerating nor braking.

When I start to accelerate or brake, the sound disappears, but it happens when I am not pushing any of the two pedals.

Can anyone suggest the cause?

Sounds to me like the bearings in the Hub assembly are shot... I would suggest replacing it, and doing the other side as well, even though you do not hear grinding from the other side of the car, I always replace both at the same time.

Ok. Can I know approximately how much will it cost if I go to a mechanics? Can I buy the parts and do it buy myself? Thanks.

Depends on your region, and what the going rates are for labor.. Each shop charges different rates for labor, however, it is not that difficult to do it yourself! I have done both of mine on my Cadillac Deville, it took me roughly 2 hours to tear down and re assemble.

check your wheel bearings, it may be the right or left drive in a Left circle and if makes noise it may be the right one as it spins faster do same in opposite direction. Bearings areo about $150 but install is more but like the other guy said prices vary all over.
