transmission swap?

My transmission in my 2002 Ranger 2 WD 3.0 is grinding really bad in most gears but worse in 5th. I have a trans out of a 2004 Ranger and wanted to see if it was able to be put in my 2002

both 2WD?? the input shaft has to be the same spline. have to come from the same motor.
