What size socket is needed to remove the thermostat housing bolts? Is it a SAE or metric size?

The hose clamp is 5/16 or 8mm the housing is 13mm deep swivel socket.

Thank you very much for the prompt response. My son has tried every SAE socket made for the task of removing the housing to replace the thermostat.
