Fuel filter/Pressure regulator is located on the top of the fuel pump module (featured in the posts below). For the diesel engine here is how you can replace it in the diagrams below. Here is a video as well.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

You're not going to like this but it's under the vehicle, center, below seating area, mounted on top of fuel tank, in fuel pump module. You have to remove the fuel tank to get to it.

The components that Raz referred to are inside the fuel tank and require removing the tank to replace. The filter in this vehicle is not serviced as a maintenance item.

All Models 1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Install fuel pressure gauge with hose on fuel pressure test port. 2. Start engine, allow to idle and reach operating temperature. Fuel pressure should be 44.2-54.2 psi (3.1-3.8 kg/cm 2 ). If no fuel pressure exists and engine will not start, fuel pump relay and control circuit may be defective. See FUEL PUMP RELAY . 3. If engine runs but fuel pressure is less than specified, check for kinked or damaged fuel line between fuel pump module and fuel rail. Repair fuel line as necessary and retest. If fuel line is okay, perform FUEL PUMP AMPERAGE TEST , FUEL PUMP VOLUME TEST and FUEL PRESSURE LEAKDOWN TEST . If specifications were not met for FUEL PUMP AMPERAGE TEST, FUEL PUMP VOLUME TEST or FUEL PRESSURE LEAKDOWN TEST, replace fuel pump module. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article. If fuel pressure exceeds specification, fuel pump is okay, but fuel pressure regulator is defective. Replace fuel pressure regulator. Fuel pressure regulator is incorporated with the fuel filter. Fuel filter/fuel pressure regulator is located on top of fuel tank, in fuel pump module. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article. 2/21/2010 http://www.ondemand5.com/mric/common/asp/Article.aspx?MOD=REPART&YEAR=20 ...

Good morning,

Yes, it could be fuel delivery related but the first thing I would do is check the fuel pressure. Low fuel pressure will cause this issue.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-fuel-system-pressure-and-regulator

As far as the filter, it is possible but there is a bypass when it gets blocked.

I attached a picture of the location of the filter. it is on top of the fuel pump assembly on the tank.

Let me know if you can't find it.

Well welcome to the world of Dodge you do not have a fuel filter it is intergrated in the fuel pump. With that said I would like to know if you can find out what the fuel pressure is. What side of the tank do you normally run on the upper side or the do you run to empty before refilling? Is the check engine light on? Get back to me and we will see what we can find.

Filter is made into fuel regulator unit tank needs to be removed. Manufacture states no service interval. is replaced with fuel pump when it fails. Go figure

Hi I own a Dodge ram 1500 with a 5.9 gas engine. Sometimes I crank to engine but it will not idle, it just dies. I can crank the engine and give it some thottle to get the rpm up some then put it in gear and drive. After driving for about 5 or so miles to the next stop, I can crank the truck up and it fine. I think the fuel filter is clodded or maybe it is the ethenal in the fuel. Should I replace the fuel fitler and if so, where is it located. Thank you

Hello, I didn't see a separate inline fuel filter. The filter maybe part of the regulator assembly? The regulator mounts to the top of the fuel pump module. I'd put a gage on it and check fuel pressure.
