REMOVAL The sensor screws into the cylinder block, directly below the intake manifold. Remove intake manifold plenum. Refer to the Engine section. Remove the passenger side cylinder head. Refer to the Engine section. Fig. 12 Knock Sensor - 2.7L Disconnect electrical connector from knock sensor. Use a crows foot socket to remove the knock sensors. INSTALLATION Install knock sensor. Tighten knock sensor to 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.) torque. Over or under tightening effects knock sensor performance resulting in possible improper spark control. Install the passenger side cylinder head. Refer to the Engine section. Attach electrical connector to knock sensor. Install intake manifold plenum. Refer to the Engine section.

Don't be in too much of a hurry to tackle this job yourself. It's 9 hours of flat rate and you have to take half the engine apart.

I seen on your sight about swapping out a 2.7 with a 3.5 Is it true theirs two 3.5s one begin a high output and will that work ?

No, your operating system will only operate the 2.7. Besides, that would be against Federal law to do that.

Its not against federal law. I,m 61 and been doing engine swaps all my life, Have you heard of DOT.

Well, I'm older than you and have been in this business for nearly 50 years. Apparently you have never heard of the EPA. Your car received an emissions certification when it left the assembly line and it is against Federal law to modify that package in any way.

sale of, or installation of, aftermarket parts or systems which are not equivalent to the original
equipment could be considered violations of section 203(a)(3) of the Act.

My 2001 intrepid overheated and now my check engine light is on.I retreived dtc p0325 for the knock sensor.I cleared the code and test drove 8 miles and the code came back.I cannot find the connector to test the sensor.I know that if I replace the sensor I have yo removed right head.I don't hear any pinging or engine noise to cause sensor to fault.Thank you.

2000 Dodge Intrepid 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

i replaced a 00' intrepid 2.7 engine w/a 03' engine and the engine wil turn but wil not crank up. the only problem i have is the knock sensor from the 00' is not fitting on the hole on the 03' engine what do i do or is there some type of altercation that can be made to make this sensor fit?

We always recommend direct fit replacement parts. This is exactly why. THere is always something different. THe only thing I can think of is if there is an adapter that would go from one size to another. You could check at a hardware store. Also, I realize the electrical plug may be different, but are there the same number of wires going to it? Is it possoble to rewire the old plug to fit the new sensor?

As far as the no start, are you getting spark and fuel to the engine?
