Why does my Coil Pack crack between the # 2 and 5 cyclinders?

I have a 2002 Grand Caravan with a 3.3l v6.I keep cracking the coil pack between the # 2 and 5 cyclinders. The van will act fine for months and then without notice the coil will crack. I was told to replace the plugs and wires due to a possible grounding problem. This did not correct the problem. I have noticed that the problem came about shortly after breaking a serp belt. Also the van will starting to misfire if its put under a severe load and if pushed too hard the coil cracks. My buddy is a Master Tech at a Dodge dealership and he said to replace the ECM. I would like to avoid the cost if a simpler solution could correct the problem. The van is also throwing a code for oxygen sensor heater since this problem arose. Thank you.

first of all, I would look at the mounting bolts for the coil and make sure they are torqued properly. if it is ok, then i would be looking at wires replace the plugs along with them. cracking is unusual but it sounds like you have done the basics. i would not be so quick to replace the pcm.

the o2 sensor has nothing to do with it. it may be a failed heater internally that requires replacement

The plugs and wires were replaced with the second coil.I dont know if I torqued down the coil properly. I was afraid of overtightening the coil. I did not want to crack them. They are def not over tightened.I just dont understand how this thing can be fine for a month and then just pop.

that is real to say from here because i cannot see it or touch it. I agree that it does not make sense but I always start with the basics. check the mounting bracket for the coil as well. is the crack a stress crack?? how big is it?? where is the crack??

The first coil had a hairline crack between 2 and 5 post. The second coil completely cracked open and ruptured in same area. Third coil hairlined the same as first. The mounting bolt for coil to bracket to manifold is next to #2 cylinder. Mounting bolt through coil to bracket is next to #1 and 3 cylinders.

I still think it is a mounting issue that is stressing the coil. I will put it out to some other guys to see if they have seen this issue with a resolution.
