the van starts up fine but I feel a slight surge and when I put the van in drive that's when the hesitation and surging begins. I press on the gas and the engine has a hard time accelerating. I have changed the spark plugs ,plug wires, fuel injectors. also I ran into another problem my battery was completely dead. I have looked at everything that know. I haven't changed the fuel filter yet. Side note my wife has the habit of pushing the car to the empty mark. I have told her what will happen if this continues. could this be the problem also.

was the battery dead before the surge issue? because it could just need to re-learn.if not a surge can be caused by so many things ranging from a cam sensor, vacum leak, egr valve,re-learn,throttle position sensor.are there any check engine lights on or any stored codes?

ok,thanks.a surge is something that is going to require some very specific testing and tooling.i would suggest that you have it diagnosed by a pro.
