The van is stuck in snow. As I'm digging my way out and trying to maneuver the van, the brake light is on. I am not using the brakes. I don't have a parking brake. Will I need to replace the brakes? I stopped trying to move the van out of fear I'm damaging my brakes.

it may be the switch is stuck or broken have someone pull the pedal up and seeif the light goes out ifnot it may just be a bad switch.Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable from its post on the battery.
Remove silencer panel below steering column and knee blocker. Remove the stoplight switch by rotating the switch in a counterclockwise direction approximately 30 degrees and pulling it out of the bracket. See Fig. 9.
Release the locking tab and disconnect the wiring connector from the stoplight switch. Discard the stoplight switch. Use a NEW switch upon installation
