2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer No fire

I have a 2002 chevy trailblazer, I just replaced the fuel pump, it died on my wife and acted like it was in gear when you tried to start it. I took it to a dealership and they said it needed a starter. But I got it home crossed the starter over and it tried to start so where do I go from here.
