I get shocked whenever I get out of the truck, like static electricty. I replaced the failed alternator and the problem went away only to return 2 weeks later. Any suggestions where to start looking? Alternator failure was bad voltage regulator.

The generator is a very high failure item. Due to its design it develops huge voltage spikes that can destroy the internal voltage regulator and diodes. To reduce the number of repeat failures replace the battery at the same time unless it is less than about two years old. As they age they lose their ability to dampen and absorb those spikes.

Visit the dealer's parts department and ask for a fabric spray that will reduce the static buildup. Spray that on the seat and back rest. Also check for any corroded ground straps between the engine and firewall or firewall and hood. Sometimes they are used between upper control arms and the frame too.
