2002 Chevrolet Silverado 4 wd problem

My husband has a 2002 chevy silverado that is stuck in between two gears how can we get it back into gear with out having to pay a mechanic to fix the problem also the lights do not come on when he turns the truck on none of the lights come on where the buttons say 4ad etc on tg at panel
